Halikonlahti laskee saaristoon Kemiönsaaren molemmille puolille. Minä asun Saaristomeren puolella ja siitä eteenpäin saaret pienenevät. Jokainen saari on erilainen. Jotain siitä voi aavistaa katsomalla kauempaa, mutta vasta rantautumalla ja kiertämällä saaren voi aavistaa mitä kaikkea se sisältää. Saaristolaiset ovat aikaisemmin hyödyntäneet saarten tarjoaman ravinnon tarkkaan sekä eläimille että ihmisille. Olen käynyt katsomassa löydänkö syötävää kaikkein pienimmiltä saarilta. Löytämäni olen säilönyt purkkeihin. Etikettinä on saaren kuva. Näyttelyssä hillopurkeista syntyy saarien ketju, saarimuotokuvien maisema.

Food Portraits from the Islands

Halikko Bay flows into the archipelago on both sides of Kemiö Island. I live on the archipelago side, where the islands become smaller. Every island is different. You can get some idea of that from a distance, but only by going ashore and walking round an island can you get a real feeling of what it is like. In earlier times, the people of the archipelago put the nourishment provided by the islands to good and careful use, to feed both animals and humans. I have been to see whether there is something edible on even the smallest islands, and I have preserved the foodstuffs in jars. Each is labelled with a picture of an island. In the exhibition, the jars become a chain of islands, a landscape portrait of the archipelago.
